| There
are eight colors for the DL described on an Ahnentafel (German pedigree).
The colors denoted are braun, braun/weiBer Brustfleck, braunschimmel,
hellschimmel, dunkelschimmel, braun-weiB, weiB-braun and forellenschimmel.
All
roan puppies (dark roan, light roan, ticked and brown/white) are
born looking brown/white. After several weeks, the dark roan color
deepens on the dark brown roan puppies, and the roan coloration
and the ticking on the light roan and ticked puppies begin to develop.
On the third day after whelping, the individual puppies begin to
show the color they will eventually have: schimmel puppies have
dark pads and brown/white puppies have pink pads. All litter information,
including color is forwarded to the DLV registrar and tattoo numbers/ahnentafels
are issued to the breeders when the pups are between six and seven
weeks old.
All
color representations shown below are Deutsch Langhaars belonging
to members of Gruppe Nordamerika. |
